difficult times. all seems to be marinated in the ennui of death. a passing phase, i’m sure. even in this time of rebirth, its shadow haunts me. i must be mindful. death, like life, is a thought. there will always be times when this truth is challenged by leagues of unseemly devils. there is only one way, and that is the path one treads. it’s easy to get lost. difficult is the will to...

One of the interesting aspects of drawing is realizing that much of what you think you see is what you think you see.

Fishing for compliments brings a false sense of confidence. There is another, more mature, confidence. It comes when expression is consistent with nature. No outside opinion can shake that resolve. Don’t fool yourself. You know what you’re looking for.

5/6/13 There are moments of illumination that are so elusive, we struggle to capture their essence. Suppose that any perception is a rapidly evolving idea made of memories and perceptions. A perception made of enormous quantities of dissociated perceptions. Dots on a map, connected by highways. The difficulty is that this map is rendered in a flash. So quickly that it becomes unconscious....

4/27/13 Reading Rimbaud muse on the misery of love. The poet’s soul is an unmarked grave, riddled with worms. Everything would appear to be as I imagined. Do I see the world through lenses of dirt? Do I fashion my home from thorns? If I filled my rooms with exotic perfumes, would it make a difference? I fear that I won’t try, if only to protect my naïve heart.

It has become apparent to me that there is no way to know a thing. Its colors, sensations, odors, textures. It seems that there is an immense stage all around us. The sun, the air. Constitutions. Painted by endless chaos, and then we see. For all the fatalism that this thought inspires, I can’t help but think of how powerful our ability to transform can be. Shaping our world. A synthesis of...

4/24/13 I’ve often tried to figure you out. Just to know you. Trying to touch something elusive. I’m starting to realize that maybe there is nothing to discover. Perhaps the whole problem is that I seek you. That what appears to be missing in you reveals my own dissociation. You are who you are. The problem may be that I am not who I am. It breaks my heart when there are no...

Dream 4/18/2013. In the attic are other rooms (in the crawlspaces). They are identical to the living area with which I was familiar. Through the crawlspace door are other rooms, of which I was not aware. People live their lives in these rooms, but in them, I am only a ghost. Some can hear me faintly in these rooms. I can communicate, but faintly. Each person must be receptive to hear my...
